My family would sometimes visit the Kingston KH. I was very young and it was very dilapidated, I think it was rented.
Dad had a Bible study who lived there, his name was Len Hobbs.
does anyone else recall the big chart that hung at the front of every kingdom hall?.
it would be about 5 feet x 4 feet.
on the side of the chart, vertically listed, were the months of the year.

It would be about 5 feet x 4 feet. On the side of the chart, vertically listed, were the months of the year. Running across the top were the words: PIOS, PUBS, HOURS, AVG.HOURS, BC's, B.STUDS, BKS, MAGS. Each column would be filled in with glued numerals, black for what had been achieved, red for actual targets.
The chart would always intrigue newcomers to the KH, especially the bit about pubs.
The big chart was done away with sometime in the 60's and a much smaller version pinned to the notice board at the rear of the hall.
I'd be interested to see if anyone had a pic that actually showed the chart.
i would like your thoughts, please..
Yes, I went. There was about 25 of us, never-beens and df'd family who walked behind the coffin as it was brought in. We then took up the entire front 2 rows. The rest of the congregation scuffled uneasily behind us. We refused to sing or pray. No-one spoke to us and we did not speak to anyone. We then left in a calm, dignified manner, a united family who had done their duty.
i just worry for my stepkids about their future that way..
I had a pal who was brought up as a witness, married a JW girl in a KH, ( I actually drove their wedding car!) attended all the meetings and even went out knocking doors, but he was never baptised. I don't think the elders actually knew that he wasn't baptised because he'd come from the other side of the country. In his own head he believed it was the truth, but reasoned that if he played around, which he did, he couldn't be disfellowshipped and therefore wouldn't die at armageddon.
Eventually he concluded that it wasn't the truth, played around even more, told the elders he wasn't baptised and they just threw their hands in the air and promptly forgot all about it. I know he could have been DA'd later but as he stopped associating I assume the reasoning was that it was all just too much hassle.
in an earlier thread, i mentioned that i wasn't a particularly doggy person but that my parents got a husky last year that i've come to regard as a kind of brother.. huskies superficially resemble wolves and for me it's been fun to compare and contrast husky and wolf behaviour.
huskies howl but rarely bark, and seem to have a strong prey drive and a strong pack instinct - a nod to their wild cousins.
this is why i love huskies, i think.. do you have a favourite dog breed and why?.
My sister-in-law with Kai the Leonberger:
back when i was a wee lad, my dad told me that the brothers in brooklyn had voted to purchase a cadillac motor car for the sole use of the then president, nathan h knorr.
he'd got this information from the london bethel, him being a chum of the then branch overseer, pryce hughes and his pal ron drage.
religious leaders of non-profit sects are supposed to take a vow of poverty!.

This made me somewhat curious, so I then Googled "Watchtower private airplane" and came up with this: http://governingbodyletters.blogspot.co.uk/2008/08/watchtowers-luxurious-aircraft-was.html
So I was just wondering if there anyone had any other examples of WT head honchos benefitting from secret perks?
what song would you dedicate to the wt if you knew they would be listening?
put the title or post some of the lyrics for those of us that may not know it.
first thing that comes to my mind.. are the following... .
a scandal is brewing in the uk.
for many years gangs of asian men engaged in rape and torture of young girls who were in the "so-called" care system.
it is believed there were around 1,400 victims in north west england, focussed on the town of rotherham.. if reports are to be believed, social workers, police and the cpc knew it was happening and everybody failed to act for one simple reason.
Just curious.... Are the people investigating this in the UK afraid of being labeled racists, or are they just afraid of Muslims in general (as in getting your head chopped off)?
I think the main concern is that they might be banned from the local Bangladeshi take-away...
aawa activists burst into a kingdom hall in kent.
.
.
Was this really AAWA? Whatever, it was totally cringe-making. IMHO nothing short of verbal abuse.

If you express any remotely negative opinion about any UK minority group, you will be guilty of ..ism and branded an ..ist.
